As of the very end of 2003, the Dormitory Authority's (DASNY) outstanding healthcare Bonds were:
Hospital = $7,928,608,136
Nursing Homes = $1,319,969,000
D&T Centers and Adult Day Care = $77,300,000
TOTAL = $9,325,877,136
To this, we would add 2004 activity and the $1 billion that the hospitals are asking for. The key difference between the figures above and the $1 billion is that the facilities are required to repay the existing bonds. The hospitals are proposing that the new $1 billion they're asking for would be repayed by NYS taxpayers.
